Using Power BI to analyse datasets in order to perform analytical procedures as part of an audit engagement equips auditors with new skills and capability to undertake their role more effectively and efficiently.

When applied the right way, Power BI is a fantastic tool that assists auditors in their analytical procedures.  

This course provides a range of practical examples and exercises in using and applying Power BI to assist audit tasks such as:
Data analysis tools and techniques for identifying fraud
Detecting anomalies in data
Techniques for conducting more effective analytical procedures

Learners will access to an expert with deep knowledge or Power BI and a sound understanding of the auditing profession and the nature of an auditor’s work. Attending this course will enable learners to perform analytical procedures using Power BI to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out their engagements.
On successful completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Bring in external data from different sources
Clean and transform the data sets ready for analysis
Link disparate data sets together
Write calculations and apply these to the datasets
Produce a range of visualisations from the data that will quickly identify anomalies
Identify when to use specific visualisations
Analyse the results
Jeff Robson, Principal & Founding Director, Access Analytic

Jeff is the Principal and Founding Director of Access Analytic, a specialist consultancy that specialises in financial modelling, forecasting, valuation, model auditing, and management reporting for clients worldwide.

He is known as “The Financial Modelling Guru” because of his extensive experience in financial modelling, forecasting, valuation, model auditing, and management reporting for clients throughout the world. 

His achievements have been recognised by his peers and he is a Fellow of both the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and the Australian Institute of Management. He is skilled in the development and maintenance of analytical tools and financial models for middle-market to large corporate transactions and clients, at all levels of complexity, in both domestic and international settings.

He has worked with companies such as Chevron, BankWest, Petronas, Rio Tinto, Glencore, KPMG, Grant Thornton and Toyota. Before working with Access Analytic, Jeff spent 6 years working in the Corporate and IT Consulting divisions of a large, multi-national Chartered Accounting firm. Jeff is the author of a number of white papers on financial modelling on subjects such as Financial Modelling Best Practices and Financial Model Auditing.
