This intensive two-day workshop will provide a practical understanding of the application of business valuations. Take advantage of this opportunity to become familiar with the fundamentals of valuing a business and build your knowledge of the relative strengths of different valuation methodologies.
This is an interactive workshop and involves participants undertaking a practical case study involving both the Capitalisation of Future Maintainable Earnings (CFME) methodology and the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) methodology. Attendees will be provided with an excel model which will be populated during the session.
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Describe the factors that impact a valuation including the standard, premise and purpose of a valuation.
- Identify and discuss the various valuation approaches and methods and when each should be applied in practice.
- Apply the capitalisation of earnings methodology and identify sources of information for improving your valuations using this method.
- Apply the discounted cash flow methodology to a case study.
- Understand the theory and develop an appropriate discount rate.
- Describe what the valuation conclusion means (equity vs enterprise) and how to adjust between these conclusions.
- Identify the issues involved in valuing fractional interests (minority interest discounts).
This workshop will be presented by Simon Dalgarno and Katy Lawrence (both CA BV Specialists and highly experienced business valuation experts) and will provide participants with practical insights into business valuations. Participants will benefit from a structured workshop, which is aimed at accountants with a basic level of valuation knowledge and experience and will gain a comprehensive understanding of both the Capitalisation of Future Maintainable Earnings (CFME) methodology and the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) methodology.
