Leading Virtually - eLearning

This Activity is presented by Development Dimensions International.

This course teaches leaders how to overcome the challenges of time and distance to work as a cohesive team focused on achieving results.

About

Content Description

If you are concerned that your virtual team members might be feeling isolated and less committed to the team and organisation, you are not alone. Leading a team is challenging enough, but when people work remotely, perhaps across time zones and cultures, those challenges can be magnified and consequently many leaders find it challenging to lead virtual teams. However, to effectively compete in a global economy, your organisation must be able to conduct business from anywhere at any time using the most qualified people, regardless of where they live or work.

In this course, you will review the characteristics and associated challenges of virtual teams. The facilitator will explain the importance of building community among remote team members and introduce three foundations for doing so—communication, trust, and visibility.

You will then gain insight into effectively applying these foundations by working through a case study scenario.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this activity you will be able to:
• Build community among virtual team members.
• Communicate more effectively in a virtual environment.
• Enhance trust among members separated by time and/or distance.
• Focus your team by keeping team members and their goals visible and in sight.

Benefits

This course will help leaders overcome the challenges of time and distance to build trust, create a shared team culture and work as a cohesive team focused on achieving results.
