About

We live in a world typified by a real time battle between distraction and human attention. Constant invitations to be distracted and to split our attention have led to increasing levels of cognitive overload in our work environment. This is occurring at a time where change is constant, the world of work is becoming more complex and we are required to do more with less. In this activity we explore how to effectively manage hyper-stimulation and become the boss of your attention. We introduce the concept of ‘Attentional Intelligence’ and provide strategies to support you to thrive and survive in the hyperkinetic world in which we operate.

Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will be able to:

  • Explain why distraction and multi-tasking kill productivity.
  • Summarise the key components of Attentional Intelligence.
  • Implement practical tools to intentionally reduce distractions and improve focus.

Benefits:

This activity will provide insights into how you can proactively manage distractions in the workplace, take charge of your attention and be the driver of your brain. You will understand the unintended consequences of distractions and takeaway effective strategies to manage your attention.
