This activity introduces you to the five domains that generate threat and reward responses in the workplace. You will gain an understanding of how these domains act as the key drivers of our behaviour and shape how we react and respond to stimuli in our environment. This knowledge will provide you with a solid understanding of your own responses and how to manage them, and also provides a framework for gaining insight and understanding into others’ responses to situations.
Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will be able to:
- Explain why Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is wrong.
- Describe why we care about significance, certainty, autonomy, relatedness and equity (SCARE).
- Successfully apply the SCARE model in your workplace.
Improve productivity, engagement and motivation through actively building and supporting reward states in self and others.
