A practical overview of financial management and reporting for organisations in the not-for-profit sector. This activity will help you: consider financial reports and your organisation’s legal requirements. You will examine the types of reports which should be provided to the board, reflect on the financial and non-financial metrics which provide knowledge about organisational performance, assess the board’s responsibilities with regard to reporting against legislative and funding (grants and partnership) requirements. Ideal for secretaries, treasurers, officers, board and committee members keen to increase their financial understanding of their not-for-profit organisation. It develops the ability to read and relate critically on financial statements and board reports as well as addressing detailed compliance issues.Learning Outcomes
Upon satisfactory completion of this activity you will be able to:
- •Explain the financial responsibilities with regard to statutory reporting requirements.
•Identify the key not-for-profit items within the financial statements and the policy issues which affect reporting.
•Explain ways of reporting to acquit funding requirements and to meet stakeholder needs.
•Identity the key responsibilities for directors with regard to financial reporting.
Know your key responsibilities with regard to reporting and financial management. Learn what reports and metrics information you should be receiving. Recognise the importance of reporting against different forms of income, and critically assess financial information against stakeholder expectations.
