RECORDING | National Sharing Knowledge Series: Division 7A - The Critical Issues for Small Business in Regional Australia

Online Recording
While we await expected changes to the Division 7A rules, many challenging issues exist within the current legislation. Join 2019 SME Tax Adviser of the Year, Tom Delany CA FCPA FIPA, as he identifies payments, loans, amalgamated loans and forgiven debts that may be treated as deemed dividends under Division 7A ITAA36. This webinar will also explore:
  • the role that the concept of “distributable surplus” has in determining whether a deemed dividend exists;
  • the appropriate management of existing or inherited Division 7A problems, including converting the loan to a longer term and dealing with cash-strapped borrowers unable to make repayments on the loan; and
  • strategies by which existing Division 7A loans can be reduced or eliminated in a tax effective manner.
