    Liz Westover FCA, Partner, Deloitte

    Liz has extensive experience in superannuation, having previously held positions as Director at PwC and Head of Superannuation at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

    Liz has been heavily involved in superannuation policy development and advocacy, regularly liaising and consulting with Government, regulators and stakeholders on technical, legislative and policy matters.

    Liz has strong capabilities on the technical application of superannuation and associated tax laws. She is a regular commentator on superannuation issues with mainstream and social media and has authored blogs and articles on superannuation and related issues for many years.

    She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, CA SMSF specialist and holds a Master of Legal Studies from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Business from the University of South Australia.

    Tim Miller, Education Manager, SuperGuardian

    Tim Miller is one of Australia’s leading SMSF educators and presenters with over 23 years’ experience in the Superannuation industry. His experience has been gained through providing legislative and compliance support to thousands of Trustees, Accountants and Financial Planners since joining the SMSF sector in 1999. In addition to servicing the needs of SMSF clients, his practical and personable approach to compliance has made him a much sought after presenter.

    Tim regularly presents at the major SMSF conferences and events, contributes to various trade and general publications and is the author of one of the subjects of the SMSF Association Graduate Certificate delivered through the University of Adelaide and Kaplan, which has also been adopted as part of the CA ANZ SMSF specialist program.

    Tim is an SMSF Association Specialist Adviser.

    Jemma Sanderson, Director - Head of SMSF and Succession, Cooper Partners

    Jemma Sanderson is a Director of Cooper Partners Financial Services, heading up their SMSF specialist services. Jemma provides strategic advice on SMSFs, estate planning and wealth management to clients, as well as technical support to accounting, legal and financial planning groups. Jemma has over thirteen years’ experience in developing dynamic and tailored wealth management and protection strategies for high net worth clients.

    Prior to joining Cooper Partners in June 2008, Jemma worked for Grange Securities and subsequently Lehman Brothers Australia as a Strategic Planner for three and a half years, after working in a similar role at Goldman Sachs JBWere.

    Jemma has a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA and is a Certified Financial Planner, a Specialist Member of the SMSF Association, Chartered Tax Adviser and Trusts and Estate Practitioner.

    Mark Ellem, SMSF Specialist Advisor

    Mark provides technical and compliance support on SMSFs to financial advisors, accountants and SMSF trustees. He regularly writes and presents on SMSF related technical and compliance matters.

    An accredited SMSF Specialist Advisor with the Self Managed Super Fund Association, he was awarded the 2018 CEO award in February 2019 for his contribution to the association and was in the inaugural group of association members to advance to the status of Fellow in February 2020. He is also a Fellow of both CPA Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), as well as being a Registered Tax Agent.

    Mark has spent over 30 years in accounting practices and SMSF administration companies, including running his own accountancy practice and SMSF administration and compliance advice company for ten years.

    Tony Negline, Superannuation Leader, Leadership & Advocacy, Chartered Accountants ANZ

    Tony has been involved in the financial services industry for over 30 years. For over 13 years he has written a weekly financial services column, primarily about SMSFs, for The Australian newspaper. He is also author of The Essential SMSF Guide, published by Thomson Reuters and endorsed by Chartered Accountants ANZ.

    Bryce Figot, Special Counsel, DBA Lawyers

    Bryce is recognised as one of Australia’s leading SMSF lawyers. He has worked predominantly in the fields of tax and superannuation over the past 17 years and holds a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne.

    Bryce is regularly quoted and published in the Australian Financial Review, the Herald Sun, CCH and LexisNexis publications, and elsewhere in the financial press. Bryce wrote the book Complete Guide to SMSFs: Planning for Loss of Capacity and Death, published by CCH Wolters Kluwer. Bryce is on the editorial panel of LexisNexis’ Australian Superannuation Law Bulletin. He is a Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne’s Law School, where he is the subject coordinator of Taxation of Superannuation.
