The demand for Chartered Accountant (CA) services from start-ups and new businesses is increasing, as are the expectations of them. This module is a part of the program that will equip you with the technical and professional skills that you need to become the leaders in start-up, scale-up, and new business advisory and support services. 
This first module focuses on the technical knowledge that you need to get started with your journey to become a leader in start-ups, scale-ups, new business advisory and support services. This module will provide you with an opportunity to understand the Start-up ecosystem, business life cycle, start-up jargon, business and revenue model, the global landscape and trends driving the new-age start-ups and new businesses.

Meryl Johnston CA

Founder of CEO of Bean Ninjas, host of the Bean Ninjas podcast and creator of the Know Your Numbers online finance course


Meryl is a Chartered Accountant who specialises in cloud accounting software "Xero". She founded Bean Ninjas in July 2015 with $1,000 following 7 Day Startup methodology. 
Now 5 years later the company operates in Australia, the US, and UK and has a distributed team of 15 people.

Meryl is also a mentor of Rob Walling's acceleratir Tiny Seed and has been features in articles by Xero, CA ANZ as well as popular podcasts inclduing TMBA, SuperfastBusiness, and Pat Flynn's Ask Pat2.0.

Meryl believes in people over profit, the power of building systems, remote work, and being a coach rather than a manager. 

Anthony Anderson CA

Anthony has over 25 years of commercial experience in a variety of industries, including finance, healthcare, tourism and education. His roles have included business development manager, business manager, business banker, management consultant, university lecturer and freelance journalist. Anthony has held positions with KPMG, National Australia Bank and Equifax. 

In his role at NAB, Anthony was involved in facilitating complex commercial finance deals of up to $50 million. At global big data company, Equifax, Anthony worked for the Corporate Scorecard division, a boutique licensed rating agency, specialising in financial and commercial risk advisory services.  

Anthony has been involved in securing both equity and debt for start-ups and small businesses. He has also been involved in establishing, managing, advising and mentoring several small businesses, and is currently a mentor at Fishburners, within the Sydney Startup Hub. 

As a freelance business writer, Anthony has had articles published in the Financial Review, Sydney Morning Herald and Sunday Telegraph, as well as several industry publications. 

Amela Kmetas CA

Amela Kmetas is a Chartered Accountant, tax agent, small business advisor and founder of Four Twelve Accountants. 
 
Throughout her 10-year advisory experience, she has worked with small business owners providing tax advice, structuring and planning, management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting. Amela works with clients across the start-up phase to achieve growth and has developed an in-depth understanding of business and client’s specific needs. By working closely with clients and helping them draw value from their figures and financial information, Amela remains focused on educating small business owners and assisting them to make informed decisions to achieve their business goals. 

Mark Gell 

With over 40 year’s experience in both the public and private sectors in Australia and internationally, Mark provides knowledgeable and pragmatic counsel on matters ranging from capital markets, strategy to corporate and issues management.  

Mark has extensive capital markets experience, having managed the equity markets function for a number of top 50 Australian companies, with involvement in over $20 billion of transactions and having been involved in start-ups as an advisor and as a founder. 

His corporate experience includes senior leadership team positions at Citibank, Australian National Industries, TNT, Boral, Telstra, OneSteel and Lend Lease, where he held international responsibilities. He has also advised international companies such as Thomson CSF, Hawker Siddeley, Lyonnaise des Eaux, Worley, Atlas Arteria Leightons and many more. He currently advises a number of companies across the industrial, technology, bio-tech, property, education and services sectors. 

Mark has an Economics degree from the University of Sydney, an EMBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and also holds company director qualifications from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
