In this session we welcome Dr Vidyasagar Potdar, Director of Blockchain R&D Laboratory at Curtin University as he breaks down myths and misconceptions, and looks at commercial application of Blockchain technology. 

He will examine, distributed applications and Smart Contracts, whether you need to consider adopting Blockchain technologies, opportunities with Blockchain and business models at risk.

Enterprise Blockchains, and the use of Blockchain in the Accounting, Banking & Financial Services; and Mining, Oil & Gas Industries will be explored. Finally, he will go through a Blockchain solution demonstration.

Dr Vidy Potdar is the Director of the Blockchain R&D Laboratory at Curtin University. He has a degree in Computer Science and a PhD in Information and Cyber Security and is currently engaged in research and development on Blockchain, Internet of Things and other emerging technologies.

He works closely with industry and undertakes practical; real-world industry focussed research projects. He has secured several research grants from industry and government to drive research in emerging areas of technology like blockchain, internet of things, sensor networks and deep learning. 

He is actively involved in Blockchain research and secured external funding to drive research on blockchain. Recently, he secured $750,000 from industry to set up the Blockchain R&D Lab at Curtin University along with $210,000 to support PhD scholarships for Blockchain research. 

He also runs a YouTube channel on Blockchain called “Dr Blockchain”
