This package introduces practitioners to the taxation framework for companies as business structures, with a focus on both strategic understanding and practical tax compliance. It covers the company tax system, including imputation, and guides participants through the preparation of company income tax returns, addressing a wide range of typical income and expense issues.

Company Structures & Imputation
- Critique the effectiveness of using a company structure based on key business structuring considerations.
- Understand the tax implications of a company carrying on a business, including how profits are taxed and distributed.
- Explain the imputation system, including franking credits and how they affect shareholders.
- Recognise when and how a company can be integrated with other entities in a broader business structure.
- Identify whether a GST refund is applicable for the company.
Company Tax Return Preparation
Accurately complete the company income tax return including:
- Reconciliation of accounting profit to taxable income.
- Determination of the appropriate corporate tax rate (25% vs 30%).
- Treatment of capital gains, including profits on asset sales.
- Accounting for finance arrangements such as hire purchase, chattel mortgage, and finance leases.
- Reporting of employee entitlements, doubtful and bad debts, and FBT expenses.
- Handling employee fringe benefit contributions.
