Description

Despite decades of investment in mentoring programs, women's networks and flexible work policies, many women in accounting continue to experience burnout, career barriers and declining wellbeing.

New research conducted by Monash Business School in partnership with CA ANZ is uncovering why.

Drawing on the experiences of women accountants across Australia (with NZ-based experiences to come), this research explores the realities of balancing career progression with caregiving, parenting, menopause, invisible workload and changing life demands. It reveals a powerful insight: formal policies alone are not enough. Workplace culture, psychological safety, supportive leadership and genuine flexibility are the factors most strongly linked to wellbeing, resilience and retention.

Join leading researcher Dr Carly Moulang FCA, alongside Aotearoa workplace inclusion advocate Robin Davies CA and leadership advocate Rae Gunn FCA, for an evidence-based and practical discussion on what organisations can do to better support women throughout their careers.

This session will challenge assumptions, share emerging research findings and provide actionable strategies for leaders, firms and workplaces seeking to create environments where women can thrive, not just survive.

We’ll cover:

  • The key wellbeing challenges facing women accountants today.
  • What the latest research tells us about menopause, caregiving and career sustainability.
  • Why workplace culture matters more than policy alone.
  • Practical actions organisations can take to support women across different life stages.
  • How leaders can create environments where women feel safe, supported and able to thrive.

Whether you are leading a team, shaping workplace policy, managing your own career, or supporting colleagues through mid-career and mid-life transitions, this conversation will provide valuable insights into the future of wellbeing and inclusion in the accounting profession.
