Description

The CA ANZ Business Valuation Specialisation Course comprehensively covers key aspects of business valuation, with a strong emphasis on practical applications and regulatory frameworks. It focuses on the practical application of principles, standards, and legislation relevant to business valuation roles. 

The initial module lays the foundation by covering the differences in regulatory systems between Australia and New Zealand.  Specific modules are dedicated to understanding the valuation process in different contexts, including mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, and taxation. 

The course delves into the protocols for preparing valuation reports, from initial preparation to presenting findings in various professional settings. The course considers the end-to-end role of a business valuation specialist, emphasising the knowledge, ethical, and behavioural standards expected. Throughout the course, these standards remain at the forefront, significantly impacting the approach and outcomes of valuation work.

Please undertake this quiz to refresh your knowledge on Business Valuation fundamentals so that you can actively contribute at each session and to improve your chances of successfully passing the course. 

 Assumed Knowledge

  • The Business Valuation course is pitched at the intermediate to advanced level (with at least 4 years’ experience) and is intended for professionals with substantial experience in business valuation. To study this course, you need to confirm that you have a strong foundational understanding of key valuation and corporate finance concepts, including discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, cost of capital, capital asset pricing model (CAPM), enterprise and equity value, and the application of valuation multiples.
  • You also need to be comfortable with both the theoretical and practical aspects of business valuation and have the necessary background to engage with the course material at a high level.  Attendees should also be familiar with the International Valuation Standards.
  • Attendees should ensure that additional revision is undertaken in any areas in which they have a knowledge gap.

Certification and Recognition

Upon successful completion of the course and meeting the eligibility requirements, full CA ANZ members can apply for formal recognition as a CA Business Valuation Specialist, while Affiliate members can apply to become a Business Valuation Specialist of CA ANZ.
