The new High Court Rules came into force on 1 January 2026. They introduce significant changes to the way civil litigation is conducted in the High Court.  It is important for parties and experts to understand how these changes affect them.   

In addition, the new Commercial List came into effect from 6 October 2025. This is another important development, aimed at streamlining commercial disputes where the claim is worth $1 million or more or involves significant or complex commercial issues.  

Both the new Rules and the new List place a significantly increased emphasis on progressing matters quickly to hearing.
